My background is a bit different from most.  Growing up my mom was opposed to us working out.  To this day I still do not know why.  I remember wanting a Soloflex so bad I almost cried.  I played baseball in high school and a little semi-pro ball, but never trained with weights with any regularity.  Once an injury ended my baseball career I needed to find another outlet.  A friend of mine got me to the gym I found out that I had a little bit of natural strength.  I think country strong is the official term for it.

I started off training for bodybuilding, reading Flex and Ironman religiously.  You remember magazines don’t you?!  But it became painfully obvious that I was not cut out for that.  Though I could gain muscle rather quickly, fat always came along for the ride.  Then one day I read something by Louie Simmons.  I had no idea who he was at the time.  The first thing that jumped out at me was the science behind his method.  I have always been a fan of science and math, so when he combined that with my new found interest in strength training I was all over it.  After that I realized that there was an entire sport devoted to strength called Powerlifting.  The thing I came to love about powerlifting was that goals and progress were very concrete.  You always knew where you stood.  Either the bar moved or it didn’t.

I became a Strength and Conditioning Coach and founded Mammoth Strength in 2001.  I discovered a true passion for helping athletes reach their goals.  I have been training athletes of all levels for 12 years now, and I am always learning new things.  That is the best part about working with new clients is that they teach you as much as you teach them.   Welcome to my site, and I hope that my team can help you reach your  goals.
