George St Pierre Workout MMA Power

The George St Pierre workout seems to be widely sought after due to his athletically shredded physique and dominant performance in the cage.  Many people have sought after what exactly it is that he is doing to become the athlete he is today.  Let’s get right into it…

First things first, you got to be using the right exercises that allow you to get the most from your workout every time you step foot in the gym.  GSP uses many complex, multi-joint movements that make sure test his stability.  He always chooses exercises that make his core stabilize the movement in order to get ripped and strong abs.  Check out this video of some of the exercises he uses…

Next, as you just saw you need to be able to order your routine to maximize your athletic potential and get that lean shredded look like GSP.  This is simply done by manipulating your energy systems.  You want to make the workouts short and as intense as possible so your burning the fat off but not breaking down the muscle.

St Pierre uses a variety of hard hitting strength movements supplemented with plyometrics and stability training to give him one of the most recognizable physiques in the UFC.

Give this a shot, taken from numerous interviews on the topic of his actual routines.  Start with a max effort plyometric move.  As a fighter you need to have endurance but you should not mix this with explosive training.  Mixing the 2 will lead to decreased peak performance in explosive power.  Next perform a complex strength movement that will allow you to dominate opponents in overall strength.  Then follow this with a circuit working your accessory muscles.  Accessory muscles can be thought of as the muscles that supplement your actual movements in the cage.  GSP for instance incorporates many trunk exercises in his circuits.  This allows him to transfer energy  from his upper body through his core to his legs to perform a devastating head kick.  He understands that most MMA movements contain total body control.

If you want to get the most out of your workout, get a ripped body, or just improve your overall MMA game, I think you should at least check this video out… Total Xplosive Training
