Vernon Davis Workout

Vernon Davis is most widely known for being a tight end in the NFL, but is catching worldwide recognition for his insanely shredded athletic physique.  Now I’ve been following the Vernon Davis workout since he was playing in college for Maryland mostly because his crazy work ethic when training.

I remember reading how he used to train in his basement in D.C. while others were out going to parties on the weekend.  This is the same mentality that slowly separated Vernon from the rest of the pack.

A typical workout of Vernon’s consists of power movements, complex stength lifts, then followed with a circuit of hypertrophy training to add that lean size.  Here’s an exact example of something he follows for a week.

MONDAY

Power Clean
Bench or Incline Press(1)

Circuit(3)

Farmer’s Walk
(holding 20-kg plates)

Neck Lateral Flexion

TUESDAY

Kettlebell Swing (warm-up)
Explosives(5)
Barbell Squat(1)
Speed Deadlift (with bands)
Back Hyperextension
Calf Raise
Abs(4)
Dumbbell Clean(6)

THURSDAY
EXERCISE

Light warm-up + stretching
Kettlebell Swing (warm-up)
Power Clean
Bench or Incline Press
Upper-back exercise
Triceps exercise
Special exercise
Lat Pulldown or Pull-Up
Abs(4)
Grip exercise
Neck Lateral Flexion

FRIDAY

EXERCISE

Light warm-up + stretching
Kettlebell Swing (warm-up)
Single-Leg Squat
Explosives5
Reverse Hyperextension
Posterior Chain (10)
Calf Raise
Abs(4)
Dumbbell Clean[Clean.sup.9]
Neck Rotation/Twisting
